Introduction to Searching Pubmed

Pubmed is a free interface to Medline, which is the premier database for the health sciences. Come to the introductory workshop to learn how to search Pubmed, including how to search using both keywords and MeSH subject headings, limit your results to specific types of studies, and quickly find articles relevant to clinical care.
Introduction to Medline via OvidSP for Health Science Research

If you’re doing health science research you need to know how to search in Medline, the premier database for the health sciences. This two-hour workshop provides a general introduction to searching Medline using OvidSP, including what content is included, searching using keywords and subject headings (MeSH), and limiting results to specific types of articles. The majority of the time will be spent doing hands-on activities.
Native Health Database

A brief workshop on the Native Health Database – a boutique database from the University of New Mexico on American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Canadian First Nations. We’ll examine its strengths and its connections to Pubmed. Is it an effective way to begin research on aboriginal health? Is your research listed in the database? This workshop will be held in Woodward Library’s McKechnie room, which is located beside the reference desk. If you need any help please ask for directions at the front desk.

This hands-on workshop introduces briefly the main concepts of citation management and gives detailed instruction for using RefWorks, a popular citation management tool licensed by UBC Library.
