UBC Library Support for St. Paul's Hospital
UBC Library provides a variety of information and consultation services that are useful for UBC faculty, staff & students located at the hospital sites.
- Most journals articles and many books are available online; materials available only in print (if under 30 pages) are delivered via the web.
- Information & Instruction is available by phone (604-822-4440), chat service, email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and electronic classroom.
All UBC students, staff, & faculty at teaching hospitals are welcomed at the UBC Biomedical Branch Library located in the Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre at Vancouver General Hospital.
Hospital employees are encouraged to use the library services provided by professional organizations and the resources of the Electronic Health Library of British Columbia available to the Health Authorities. UBC Library supplements these resources and services as needed. Hospital employees from St.Paul's may obtain library cards and other services at the Biomedical Branch Library.
Librarian Dean Giustini is available to provide expert help for systematic reviews and other research. He is also available to come and provide a class on how to perform your own searches.
Study Space provided by the Faculty of Medicine
St. Paul’s Hospital Library: Room 1555, Providence Building Level 1 officially opened in March 2014 and is available to UBC students and hospital employees. The space provides access to the UBC Wireless (ubcsecure); please use your CWL to sign-on.
If you would like to access UBC Library resources from the PHC Network, please use the University's EZProxy. You may sign-on with any of these: CWL; authorization card; UBCcard barcode. These all require a password/PIN.
If you have a hospital staff card, you will not be able to use the EZProxy from the PHC Network. Your card requires you to be on the UBC Network.
SUGGESTION: Use the Chrome browser or FireFox on your PHC workstation and go this site provided by Vancouver Coastal Health. This will allow you to use the resources of e-HLbc, PubMed, and UpToDate.
